Upgrade Instructions

This document describes the process for upgrading the Pregnant Mothers module.

Preparation

First, please make sure that all of the data that has been entered by the Mobile Worker is available on paper to be re-entered after the upgrade is complete. Make sure the Mobile Worker is able to point out which client records have been entered into CommCare.

Also, please ask the Mobile Health workers for their usernames, passwords, and Id's so that you can add them to the upgraded application.

Upgrade Process

Here are the step-by step instructions for upgrading the application. There are three steps, deleting the old application, installing the new version, and then re-entering the old data. Please follow them in order.

Delete the Old Application

1. Browse to the phone application menu by pressing "Menu" and "Applications" and find the application, titled "CommCareGrameen". 1. Press the "Options" button. A menu should show up with options for the application. 1. Find the "Delete" option and press that button. 1. When prompted to delete, press "Yes". 1. On the Applications screen, verify that there is no longer an application titled "CommCareGrameen".

Install the New Application

1. Go to the phone's browser, by pressing "Menu" and then "Web". 1. Go to the "Bookmarks" option and select it. 1. Press the "Options" button, and browse all the way down to "New Bookmark". You should see a screen that says "Enter Address". 1. Into this screen, enter http://dev.commcarehq.org/projects/3/latest/CommCareGrameen.jad 1. Press "Ok" 1. On the next screen enter: NewCommCare 1. Press "Ok" 1. The phone should now say "Bookmark Added" 1. You should now be on the bookmarks screen, and there should be an option titled "NewCommCare" 1. Highlight NewCommCare and press "Select" 1. The phone will ask a number of questions about downloading the application. Continue to answer "Yes" to each question to download and install the application. 1. After the application has been downloaded, the phone will ask if you want to run it. Select "Yes".

Re-enter the Old Data

1. Start the application 1. Login by leaving the current username "admin", and entering the password "234" without quotation marks. 1. Prepare the Username, Password, and ID# for the Mobile Health Worker for the phone you are upgrading. 1. Follow the instructions at [wiki:newuser this guide] to add the user. 1. Log in using the Mobile Health Worker's username and password. 1. Prepare the paper forms with the data that needs to be re-entered. 1. On the Application's home page, select "New Case". 1. You will now enter the data from one of the pregnant mothers. Enter the data for one of the mothers, ensuring that each one is assigned a unique ID with the first question, until the phone pops up a menu that says "Send Now" "Send Later". 1. Press "Send Now". 1. The application will tell you whether the form was sent correctly. Press "Ok" to continue. 1. You should now be back on the home page. 1. Press "New Case" and continue entering data for another pregnant woman. 1. When you have finished entering data for all of the mothers, you can check that each has been entered by pressing "View Open Cases". There should be a list that includes each mother you have entered. 1. The phone is now upgraded fully.
